Preservation Microfilming
Academic Microforms are specialists in understanding the preservation microfilming, digital imaging and conservation requirements of archives and libraries. We are the UK experts in the origination of top quality 35mm preservation master negatives for archives, libraries, micropublishers and academic researchers and for digitising purposes. Our microforms are suitable for archival, security, micropublishing, research and digitising purposes. They are fully titled and produced to the highest national and international standards (AIIM, ANSI, BSI, ISO, JIS, etc.). Resolution, density and image integrity are all carefully checked guaranteeing high quality images even from the most difficult originals.

Digital Preservation
We are able to produce digital images from most types of originals including microforms, 35mm slides, lantern slides, glass negatives, transparencies, prints, drawings, engravings, manuscripts and printed works and other original documents up to A3 size with output to CD-ROM, DVD and Kodak Ultima CD-R. Most file types are catered for including RGB TIFF, CCITT TIFF, JPEG, GIF and PDF formats. Images can be re-sized and translated to the file format of your choice. In addition to standard digitising we can also, if required, initiate image enhancement techniques to restore faint or faded images, de-skew, right-orientate, mirror or invert images. Our Catalogue of Microfilm Publications
Academic Microforms limited publishes a number of archives, collections, manuscripts, journals and rare books on both 35mm microfilm and digital formats.

We offer a full micropublishing service with examination of potential projects, costings, royalty agreements, sales promotion, and on-site filming of original documents.

Micropublished materials are offered for sale as 35mm silver duplicate microfilms and also as electronic media (CD-ROM/DVD). All micropublished materials are produced to the highest standards under strict quality control. We are known for the high quality of our microforms. In the unlikely event of you receiving defective microforms from us we have a free of charge replacement policy.

Highland Heritage Press
Highland Heritage Press has been set up by Michael and Jane Gunn for the specific purpose of publishing books about the history and heritage of the counties of Caithness and Sutherland in the northern Highlands of Scotland, an area once known as the Pictish province of Catt. Michael Gunn is a specialist in the history of this area and in the genealogies of its clans and families. He is a Past President of the Clan Gunn Society and a member of its Council. He was instrumental in providing most of the text and historical research for the displays at the Clan Gunn Heritage Centre and Museum at Latheron in Caithness and is the author of several books and numerous articles. Highland Heritage Press offer a range of hardback books on Clan Gunn, Caithness and highland history.

Highland Heritage Press also offers a series of high quality digital prints from our archive of images. These include a range of images taken in Caithness, Sutherland and Orkney of archaeological sites, castles, houses and landscape views of sea, cliffs, mountains and moors.
