Manual of Document Microphotography
List
price: £25.00 plus postage.
There is no compendium like the Manual of Document Microphotography.
It describes important cost-effective means of making rare, fragile
and irreplaceable documents available for research and study. A
microfilm copy is easily reproduced and convenient in size, while
faithfully recording all the detail of the original.
Michael J. Gunn's forty years in the micrographics industry have
enabled him to produce a unique practical manual, that draws together
material from numerous sources and includes much never previously
published.
Microphotographic techniques for all documentary sources are discussed:
books and manuscripts of paper, parchment or fabric, maps, blueprints,
drawings, engravings, photographs, X-rays and paintings. The general
principles are outlined and evaluated by placing them in the context
of good practice.
The author has sat on the Micrographics Committees of the British
Standards Institute (BSI), and is a past delegate to the International
Standards Organisation (ISO) and has been responsible for drafting
many of the micrographics standards in use today.
